Penn State Student Organization Gathering Guideline Update

August 20, 2020

Dear Recognized Student Organization,

Due to concerns associated with the risk of Covid-19 transmission at in-person gatherings, Penn State is suspending RSO in-person gatherings during a two-week return to campus period through September 6, 2020. During this period, community health will be monitored and further guidance will be issued for gatherings slated to begin September 7, 2020 or later.

For the purposes of this notice, “gathering(s)” refers to any public or private meeting, event, program, or activity that would cause members of your organization to congregate in groups of two or more.

It is our sincere hope that by exhibiting caution now, we can return to the programming environment to which you are accustomed. A return to programming will not signify a return to pre-Covid ways of programming. We’ve prepared a resource page with guidance for conducting meetings and events on-campus after September 6, found here: http://bit.ly/PSUProgrammingResources.  Please note: guidelines are subject to change in an effort to balance programming with public health concerns.

We’ve been fielding questions from many of you throughout the summer and have already been impressed by the concern you’ve shown for your members and constituents, and by your creativity in developing new ways to continue your organization’s mission despite the obstacles presented by the Coronavirus. It is for these reasons that we are confident we can count not only on your support, but on your finding ways to thrive as we navigate this together.

If you have questions or concerns that are not addressed in the resources at the above linked page, please reach out to us at StudentOrg@psu.edu.

Sincerely,

Jennifer Grossman Leopard & Jeffrey Zapletal
