PSKC wins team award & two Grand Championships at local tournament
Congratulations to PSKC competitors at Young’s Tournament on April 8th! Master Young awarded PSKC with the Team Trophy for accumulating the most points in Kata, Sparring and Breaking events.
Three PSKC Black Belts won first places in their divisions and competed in the Grand Championship events, achieving Grand Champion in Men’s and Women’s Black Belt Sparring.
PSKC Self-Defense Workshop
PSKC Brown Belts conduct a self-defense workshop for the Delta Phi Epsilon Sorority on March 30th, 2017.
PSKC members will host another free self-defense workshop at Schlow Library on April 15th at 9am in the first floor community room.

Guinness World Record Set In Okinawa
“The most people performing a kata is 3,973, achieved by Prefectural Government of Okinawa and Society for the Advancement of Traditional Okinawa Karate (both Japan), in Naha, Okinawa, Japan, on 23 October 2016.
Karate practitioners of all ages performed the most basic kata in Okinawan Karate known as “fukyu-gata 1”, on Kokusai Street. October 23rd is known as “Karate Day” in Okinawa.”
Shorin Ryu Master Zenpo Shimabukuro (not related to Tatsuo Shimabuku) is calling out the count.
Running with the Nittany Lion
Some of the PSKC runners with the Nittany Lion kicking off the THON 5K run on October 16th. Proceeds from the event help support the Four Diamonds Fund.

Shimabuku Embu Taikai
On Tuesday (9/20), PSKC members honoured the 108th anniversary of Tatsuo Shimabuku’s birthday (9/19/1908) with a special demonstration that included:
• Karate & Isshin Ryu historical video
• Upper/Lower basics with breaking
• Kata demonstrations – Naihanchi, Sanchin & Sunsu
• Self-defense techniques from Tatsuo’s Kumite drills
