島袋 龍夫 Tatsuo Shimabuku Embu Taikai
Over a century ago, in the small village of Chan, on a small island in the south pacific, a boy was born. One day he would become a Karate Master whose art would reach beyond the shores of Okinawa and spread across the globe.
On Tuesday, September 19th, the Penn State Karate Club will celebrate the birth of Tatsuo Shimabuku (9/19/1908) with a special presentation of Isshin Ryu Karate and an introduction to Okinawa, the birthplace of Karate. Audience members will be invited to participate in some self-defense applications following the demonstration.
This Embu Taikai (martial arts demonstration) will begin at:
7:30PM in 106 White Building on Tuesday the 19th.
Remember to bring your PSU student ID, it is required to access White Building.

Student Involvement Fair 2017
The Fall 2017 Student Involvement Fair has been rescheduled to Thursday, August 24th from 11-4pm on the HUB lawn. Look for the Penn State Karate Club table to meet some of our members and get more information.

Penn State students interested in learning Karate should complete the Club Sports participation agreement, available on their website: http://sites.psu.edu/clubsports/ Use “KARATE” when filling out your Club Sports participation agreement, then come to one of our Tuesday, Thursday or Sunday classes in 106 White Building at 7PM.

Fall 2017 Semester Starts Monday, August 21st
Returning & interested Penn State students need to complete the 2017-2018 Club Sports participation-agreement and registration process to become involved with the Penn State Karate Club.

PSKC Black Belts compete at World Championship
PSKC instructors traveled to Augusta, Maine to attend seminars with Grand Master Kichiro Shimabuku and compete in the IWKA 2017 World Championship Tournament. The event this year was hosted by Senseis Rob & Rebecca Pushard of Maine Isshinryu Karate Academies.
PSKC finished with five 1st places, four 2nd places, and seven 3rd places. Competition included empty hand forms, weapons, and sparring.
The IWKA 2019 World Championship will be hosted by Goshin Isshinryu Karate in London, England on July 27 & 28th.
